CO2 laser cutting machines, such as our CSF , CSH and CLB series machines, can cut various non-metallic materials like Acrylic, MDF, Tech-Ceramic and PET with higher effeciency than conventional tools. Other nonmetallic materials like plywood, wood, fabric, leather, paper and more are also among the range good and easily to be cut by CO2 lasers. However, some materials such as glass and reflective metals cannot be cut by CO2 lasers.
Below is a CO2 Laser Processing Chart (courtesy from Kern Laser Systems) showing some more valuable material derserve to cut by CO2 lasers (< 150W) by past industry experience.

LLC have made it workable and reliable to cut steel with thickness up to 4.8 mm, together with stainless-steel of around half thickness (2.5mm) by equipping 500W RF pulse CO2 lasers.
By adding a whole new designed "Surface Auto-Tracking Set" consisted of Motorized Height Tracking Mechanism (MHTM) and Setting Panel (SP), users now are able to do "AUTO FOCUSING on Metallic Surface" (AFOMS) and get much better cutting quality than machines without it.

Machine users will be able to cut both metallic material such as mild-steel, stainless-steel together with various non-metallic materials commonly seen at factory site by enabling/disabling this unique set.

Below are typical capabilities of our CO2 laser machine for proessing Tech-Ceramics :
1. SC x20: Cutting 3mm alumina ceramic
Requirement for ATFR-BRA (circular polarization & back reflection isolation)
Cut very slowly for best results – 1cm/min gives good finish, minimal underside dross, and reduces chance of fracture.
Long pulses (up to 1msec) required, especially when cutting very thick material. Note: modification to standard RF power supply is required for pulses longer than 400ms FREQUENCY 250Hz, 1msec pulses POSITIVE MENISCUS 5”FL DIAMETER ON LENS~ 15mm (1/e2 ) AIR PRESSURE 5 bar BEAM FOCUS HEIGHT 1mm below workpiece surface NOZZLE STAND OFF 1.5mm
2. SR Ceramic Cutting:
Cutting alumina ceramic up to 5mm thickness: SR 10i, SR 15i or SR 25i – higher power gives no advantage, due to plasma screening effects
Speed – select according to material thickness, but cut as slowly as possible for best results. 1mm thickness – cutting up to 1m/min is possible 5mm thickness – 1cm/min gives good quality edge (Higher speeds result in poor edge quality, underside dross, and increased risk of fracture)
Frequency = < 500Hz
Pulse width = up to 1msec for thickest material (note: that this requires modification to standard RF power supply)
Focus – at top surface of thin material, up to 1mm below surface as material thickness increases. 2.5” FL most commonly used, although good results using 5” FL to cut up to 2mm alumina
Assist gas – compressed air, typically between 5 and 8 bar, delivered via 2mm nozzle orifice at 1.5mm stan
LLC do accept a customized order for CO2 laser cutting machine of different (larger) working area.
Two examples for this are CSE-250130 and CSH-300185 we made before.
We will make a specific quote for any additional requirements and issues which buyers will be addressing. Generally, the prices we quoted for customized cases will be proportional higher to reflect the extra efforts we will need to put on.
